24th Annual Easter Bonnet

I had a great chance on Monday to see the 24th Annual Easter Bonnet performance.  Celebrating the fund raising efforts of most Broadway, Off-Broadway and National Touring companies for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS . Several show companies put on skits and made a "bonnet" to present at the competition.

My New Venture

So recently, I was asked by the people at Broadway Blogspot to become part of their team.  I will now be working with them as a kind of Office Manager/Public Relations/Social Networking Guru/Guy Who Researches Stuff (still not quite sure what call myself).  Basically, I'm going to be doing quite a few things that I'm really learning and trying to get a handle on.  So far, it's been a pretty exciting process and a little overwhelming.

Silence... Not So Golden!

So, it seems to happen to me about once a year.  The cold weather goes away, the temperature goes up and all the flowers and trees start to bloom.  About this time, I notice that my throat is a little scratchy but, I think nothing of it.  And then, one morning I wake up and go to speak or sing and I realize it's happened.... I got friggin' laryngitis.  AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Extra! Extra!, Pt. 2

So, it was back to Boardwalk Empire for me, the other day, to do more background work.  The experience was a little different than the first time because, at least this time, I knew what was going on so I wasn't walking around like a deer in headlights.  But, the day didn't go without its issues and it gave me a chance to people watch again.

Billy Elliot

Ever since it was announced that a musical version was coming to Broadway, I've had some reservations about seeing Billy Elliot the Musical.  Based on one of my favorite movies ever, I wasn't sure that there would be any way that the musical could live up to how much I loved the original film.  As a couple of friends and I walked by TKTS, we happened to notice that the show was up (which, to my knowledge, is extremely rare because the show is typically sold out) and, on a whim, decided to go see it.  Turns out, it was gonna be one of my best theatrical experiences EVER!

Sleep Peacefully, Miss Dixie

I was so saddened yesterday by the news that Dixie Carter had passed away.  She was the epitome of southern class and grace.  And although I did not know her personally, I feel the "one more angel in Heaven" saying definitely applies.

The Addams Family

One of the more anticipated new shows, of the Broadway season, opens on April 8 (my birthday, coincidentally).  I got an early birthday surprise in getting tickets to go see the next to last preview!  What I saw was a show that, while far from perfect, had a great cast and a ton of fun!  That show, of course, is The Addams Family.

Showing Off, pt. 3

So here is the third video that I have.  This is from Seth's 100th Showcase Celebration that was performed at Don't Tell Mama in February.  Everyone that performed did a song written by the host and emcee, Seth Bisen-Hersh.  Mine is called "I'm So Sorry".

So, what do you think?  I've got one more in the works that's not ready to be posted but, as soon as it is, I'll throw it at you.  Until next time...

Broadway Blogspot... Check it Out!

There's a new website that debuted yesterday that's a really interesting tool for anyone who'd like to know  what it's like to be part of the theater world.  It has interviews, videos and other cool backstage stories.  Check it out and, maybe, drop the creators (Kimberly Faye Greenberg and Brian Childers) a line to let them know how they're doing.

The site is www.BroadwayBlogspot.com.

On My Own... Or So It Seems.

So recently, I've been trying to decide what kind of direction I wanted to take this blog in and I was looking for some feedback.  I decided to go to the Blogger discussion board and post the question, "Any other blogs about theater or an actor's life?"  I posted that question about 8 days ago and was curious about what kind of response I would get and if anyone would like, hate or be indifferent towards anything that I've written about.
